Astro Gold MacOS 6 User Guide

Astro Gold uses the Swiss Ephemeris for state of the art precision in astronomical calculations - ephemeris range 1200 BC to 2400 AD. However built-in ephemerides for chart points Astraea (5) and Hygiea (10) have been extended to cover the range 3000BCE to 3000CE. Current Swiss Ephemeris version: 2.10.03

All Astro Gold apps use the highly respected ACS Atlas, with 250,000+ locations from around the world, and comprehensive world time zone history.  (You can use this Atlas to set your home location to make current transits relevant to where you reside.)  Current version 23 - Timezones last updated 2nd Dec 2022.

Vulcan is a hypothetical planet, and there is no officially accepted ephemeris for the calculation of its position. Astro Gold uses the orbiting version of L.H.Weston.

The Black Moon Lilith is the empty focal point of the Moon’s orbit around the earth, which is also the apogee of the Moon’s orbit. It is the true (osculating) apogee that is used in Astro Gold.

Local Mean Time (LMT)

LMT is calculated directly from the longitude of the location. Specifically the LMT timezone is 1.0 hrs for each 15 degrees of longitude from Greenwich.

LMT means local MEAN time - hence it cannot in any way be based on true solar position.

LAT means local APPARENT time - this means the timezone is based on the exact time that the true (= apparent) solar position is directly overhead for any specific location and day.

The exact difference in timezone between LMT and LAT for a given location and day is equal to the "Equation of Time" for that location and time.
