Astro Gold MacOS 5 User Guide

Here is a brief tutorial on how to set up a Graphic Ephemeris.

>> To set up a Graphic Ephemeris

1.Create or select a natal or event chart to use as a base chart in the Chart 1 position. See Quick Start for how to create a new chart. You may also opt to select an already created chart - see here for how to do that.

2.Click the Icon; Ephemeris on toolbar v3 icon in the Toolbar, or in the View menu click on Graphic Ephemeris. You should now see the "Graphic Ephemeris" window where you can set up your ephemeris calculations.

3.At the top of the window, over near the right hand side just next to the button with 3 dots on it, clicking on the quite small dropdown menu Icon; DropDown Blue Arrows will give you the option to choose one of the following calculation methods:

Transits

Secondary Progressions

Solar Arc Directions

Although it is showing "Transits" highlighted below for this tutorial we will select Sec Prog (secondary progressions).

4.Based on what you choose here Astro Gold then automatically selects a "Dynamic Job" (which it displays at the top at the center, in the wide dropdown list) that will be able to make the appropriate calculations for the event type you have just chosen (progressions). And normally this is all you need to do at this step.

However whichever dynamic type you choose (transits, progressions or solar arcs), if you don’t like the way the "Dynamic Job" associated with that dynamic type is set up you can easily modify it, or even create a new one.

You can do that from the Graphic Ephemeris window by clicking on the 3 dots Icon; 3 dots at the very top right of the window to open the "Preferences" window on the "Dynamic Jobs" tab.

When you edit a Dynamic Job, or create a new one, you can choose which points will be the moving transits, progressions or directions, which will be the static natal or event points, which aspects you wish to use and their orbs, as well as choosing whether to show when the planets/points cross house cusps, change signs, or after being in direct or retrograde motion become stationary.

See here for details on creating or editing a Dynamic Job to suit your needs.

6.Click on the "Location" icon and you can choose the location where the Dynamic events are calculated (they default to the Home Location).

7.Once you have the settings ready, it’s time to frame the time for your Graphic Ephemeris.  At the top pick a starting date, a length of time, and the degree range for the vertical axis (for example, you may want to only show 30 degrees, or 45, or 180, or even a full 360).

8.If everything meets your satisfaction, you can go ahead now and click the Run button to create the Graphic Ephemeris.

9.There’s one more setting you should know about. Click on the "Action Button" Icon; Action Button; icon only v3 and you can chose to save your resulting ephemeris, print it, or post it on a popular social media website etc.
