Astro Gold MacOS 6 User Guide

The "Clock" button, one of the "Display Controls", continuously updates a chart's time to the present time. It has a different effect depending on whether one or more charts are selected, and whether the Outer Chart (2nd, 3rd or 4th chart) is a natal chart or not.

1 Chart selected

The date and time of this chart is always updated to the present date and time for the location of the chart. This means the "present" for the location of the chart may not be the same in terms of date and time ... as the date and time where you are using the computer. This is because the chart location will be in a particular timezone, and if you are physically in a different timezone to this when you are using Astro Gold then the "present" will naturally be expressed as a different time and/or date to that of your physical location.

2 Charts selected

If there are two charts selected the Outer Ring (2nd) chart is always the one that is updated. If it is a natal chart then it is replaced with a current transits chart, using however the location of the natal chart it is replacing (which may not be the same as the Home Location). If the Outer Ring (2nd) chart is a transits or subsidiary chart then it's date and time will simply be updated to the present for the location of the chart.

3 Charts selected

If there are three charts selected, as long as the Middle Ring chart is already either a transits, secondary progressed or solar arc directed chart, then both the Middle and Outer Ring (2nd and 3rd) charts are also updated in the same way (as when two charts are selected).  In this case if the Outer Ring (3rd) chart is a natal chart then it is replaced with a current transits chart, using however the location of the natal chart it is replacing (which may not be the same as the Home Location). If the Outer Ring chart is already a transits or subsidiary chart then it's date and time will simply be updated to the present for the location of the chart.

4 Charts selected

If there are four charts selected, as long as both the Middle Ring charts are already either a transits, secondary progressed or solar arc directed chart, then both the two Middle and Outer Ring (2nd, 3rd and 4th) charts are also updated in the same way (as when two or three charts are selected). In this case if the Outer Ring (4th) chart is a natal chart then it is replaced with a current transits chart, using however the location of the natal chart it is replacing (which may not be the same as the Home Location). If the Outer Ring chart is already a transits or subsidiary chart then it's date and time will simply be updated to the present for the location of the chart.

Once the chart date and time has been updated then it continues to update every second.

>> To start the Clock

Click on the Clock button which will become dark with white text. The chart being updated will be temporarily renamed to "Clock".

>> To stop the Clock

Click on the Clock button which will become white with dark text. The chart that had become a clock will be renamed to "Transits", and the time will stay at what it was when you clicked the button to stop the clock.

The effect of starting the clock ...

With the above triWheel displayed in the "Viewing Area" once the clock has been started the inner ring (natal) chart is the birth time and so will not change, but the time of the outer two charts will change to be the current clock time for the place of birth, and will continue to tick over accordingly in real time. This creates a constantly updating live view of Sample's current progressions and transits.
